Rogelio Funes Mori has seen his name in the rumor mill. Over the last few days, linking him to a possible move to Mexico City to join Pumas UNAM. However, the 32-year-old broke his silence over his future with Rayados.
Funes Mori spoke quickly with reporters Wednesday. One question the Argentine answered is whether there’s any truth to a possible exit this summer transfer window. Monterrey’s all-time leading goal scorer noted that he’s never asked to leave despite speculation.
“At no time did I state that I wanted to leave the club,” Funes Mori told reporters (h/t Once Diario).
“I am happy here in Monterrey, it is my home and I am very excited, looking forward to starting the preseason and meeting the new coaching staff. Last tournament, we had a great tournament, we lacked a little bit, but I have all the hope in the world to get ahead.”
Is Atlas’ Ozziel Herrera is Rayados bound?
Canal 6 Deportes’ Felipe Galindo reported on Wednesday, citing sources, that negotiations are progressing between Monterrey and Atlas over Ozziel Herrera so that an agreement will be reached in the next few hours.
Newly appointed manager Fernando ‘Tano’ Ortiz already attempted to take Herrera to Club América when he was the manager of the Mexico City-based side. However, he had no luck.
Nonetheless, now with Monterrey, Ortiz is attempting again to land the 22-year-old Mexican player. The report doesn’t reveal the asking price Atlas demands for the player or what Monterrey is willing to pay.
