CF Monterrey continues its impressive start to the Clausura 2024 tournament. After six matchdays, Rayados sits atop the Liga MX table, holding the tiebreaker over Club América.

Rayados defeated Club Pachuca 3-2 on Saturday at Estadio BBVA, with manager Fernando Ortiz praising the latest performance. He highlighted the squad’s style of play and hopes it will continue to play this way.

“On a personal level, I feel that we are growing as a team,” Ortiz told reporters postgame (h/t ABC Deportes). “I think little by little he is really playing what I want. This is just the beginning. I hope we can maintain what is difficult and continue on this path. But Monterrey deserves and needs to be in the top positions.”

Monterrey will have to put this win behind them, as they’ll now need to focus on Comunicaciones FC. The Guatemalan team will travel to Estadio BBVA for the second leg on Thursday, with Rayados holding a 4-1 aggregate score.

Ortiz will likely go with a rotational squad to preserve his regular starters for the home contest against Club Toluca.
