Rogelio Funes Mori left CF Monterrey on Sunday as he said his heartfelt goodbye to the club. One of the hardest hits from the Argentine’s departure is his compatriot, Germán Berterame.
The Rayados striker spoke upon arriving in Monterrey after traveling to Mazatlán to play a friendly game. Berterame noted that Funes Mori’s exit is a hard blow to the squad.
What did Germán Berterame say about Rogelio Funes Mori’s exit?
“It’s a very tough blow,” Berterame said (h/t ABC Deportes). “It was a blow that affected us all, but it was his decision, and we hope it goes well for him; he deserves it. We have to keep working on it. The goals will come. We are forwards; we have to have that patience.”
Funes Mori will be moving on to join PUMAS UNAM on a reported two-year contract. Additionally, reports suggest Monterrey will receive $3 million for the Argentine striker.
On the same day Funes Mori’s exit was announced, Brandon Vazquez, the striker set to replace him, arrived in Monterrey. The Mexican-American player spoke to reporters upon his arrival at the airport, emphasizing that he could score and help fill the void that Funes Mori’s departure had created.
