CF Monterrey drew 1-1 against Club Querétaro on Wednesday at Estadio BBVA. Nonetheless, the squad will receive a boost with two additions to the team from the injury list.

TUDN’s Diego Armando Medina reports that Luis Romo and Stefan Medina are close to returning to the squad. Both players could be available for Saturday’s home contest against Atlético de San Luis.

Medina and Romo have been out of Monterrey due to injury since the friendly match played in Dallas against River Plate on January 17. They also did not travel to Torreón to face Santos Laguna on Matchday 2.

Is Jesús Gallardo out long-term for Monterrey?

Jesús Gallardo has a knee injury, and everything indicates he must undergo surgery to address it. Because of this issue, which occurred at the end of the preseason, the TUDN reporter reveals that it might be a while before we see Gallardo on the pitch for this Clausura 2024 tournament.

Gallardo wouldn’t have a severe problem with ligaments or anything similar. However, after a second or third examination, Monterrey’s technical staff would have advised Gallardo to undergo surgery.

It would be a knee-cleaning procedure that would keep him out of circulation for at least two and a half months or perhaps three. The 28-year-old would be looking to avoid going under the knife or, at least, seeking a second opinion, although at the moment, surgery seems highly likely.
