Inter Miami was dealt a blow ahead of the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup tie against CF Monterrey on Wednesday.
The South Florida club announced on Thursday that midfielder Federico Redondo will be out for a while, which will cause him to miss the matchup.
Inter Miami issued a press release stating that the 22-year-old suffered an injury to his left lateral collateral ligament and is expected to be sidelined for approximately eight weeks.
Lionel Messi and Nicolás Freire are coming off injuries, and both should play against Monterrey, but nothing is confirmed yet. Nonetheless, the loss of Redondo is a blow to the MLS team’s midfield. The young Argentine gelled with Diego Gomez and Sergio Busquets, so now others will have to step up.
As for Rayados, it will be interesting to see if they rotate their squad to avoid any injuries against Club Deportivo Guadalajara ahead of the match against Inter Miami.
