CF Monterrey will have changes coming to the Rayadas team for the Clausura 2024 tournament. The Mexican club recently announced that manager Eva Espejo will leave her coaching position after the conclusion of the Apertura 2023 season.
As a result, the squad is motivated to send their manager off on a winning note. Rayadas’ Diana Evangelista recently spoke with the media and shared her thoughts on the club moving in a different direction.
“We have known about the news for a couple of days, but we know the same as [the public]: we do not know what is going to happen (if she will continue in the club); it is a decision that she makes, and in the end, the best way to support it is to finish the tournament in the best way,” Evangelista told reporters.
“So, take advantage of our time, not let points go away. We must finish the tournament well to thank Eva for all these years and everything she contributed to the team and the institution. So, focus on winning the most points possible and winning the championship, which we have always wanted.”
So what’s next for Rayadas?
While Espejo decided to leave her managerial position, the club’s press release doesn’t state she’s departing the institution. So, it might be safe to assume that she has an influence on the squad from a front-office-level position.
Carla Rossi, Rayadas’ current assistant, could be manager next season with the 37-year-old leaving her coaching post. Evangelista believes that Rossi would be the ideal choice.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t see it as a bad thing,” Evangelista added. “Carla is a person who already knows us and has been working with us, but I honestly don’t know what else to tell you. We don’t know what is going to happen. We will try to finish the tournament in the best way and do what we want the club tells us,”
Nonetheless, she could decide to take on a new challenge, too. For now, everything is speculation and rumors.
