Tigres UNAL Rafael Carioca has disclosed that he recently had a conversation with his compatriot and soon-to-be former Tottenham Hotspur player, Lucas Moura, regarding playing and living in Mexico.

Monterrey is targeting Moura as a possible reinforcement and the 30-year-old has never played or lived in the country, so Carioca noted that the two players shared a recent conversation.

“I was talking to Lucas and he sent me a message; he asked about Rayados,” Carioca in an interview for ABC Deportes Monterrey. “He sent me a message asking what the city was like, the league, the situation of violence, everything a player needs to know to reach a country.

“And I responded super well. I told [Moura] that it is a good championship, there is no pressure for violence from the people. He’s going to live super well; it’s a good city. In Mexico, they pay well and they want to take Lucas’s case, Gabigol, who are players who earn a lot, they can make a good proposal. For Mexican soccer, it would be perfect [for] players of that level.”

While no official confirmation of Moura’s potential move to Rayados has been made, rumors have been circulating for several weeks, hinting at negotiations between the player’s representatives and the Mexican club.

Adding Moura to Rayados’ squad would undoubtedly be a significant coup, as the Brazilian international possesses exceptional speed, skill, and versatility.

Monterrey’s front office is taking a swing for the fences with this potential signing, and they may have received an assist from a rival. Nonetheless, the transfer saga continues as many supporters hope Moura will turn down possible interest from Saudi Arabia and be part of a project in Mexico.
