It’s been a couple of weeks since CF Monterrey fell to Cruz Azul in the 2024 Apertura Liguilla semifinal. Now that the entire season is over, rumors of players set to depart are beginning to take shape.
The first player who is reportedly on his way out of Rayados is veteran striker Rodrigo Aguirre. According to Dani Velasco from TUDN, Aguirre is getting closer to joining Santos Laguna as a reinforcement for the 2024 Apertura season.
Moreover, this move would make Aguirre the second reinforcement for Santos Laguna, following the arrival of Anderson Santamaría from Atlas. TUDN’s Diego Armando Medina also reports that Aguirre will leave Rayados on a free transfer to Santos, who will only be responsible for the player’s salary.
It is anticipated that the Uruguayan will join Santos Laguna’s preseason training in Allende, Nuevo León, in the coming days in preparation for the upcoming season.
Jesús Gallardo to Chivas?
Aguirre might not be the only player heading out of Monterrey soon as veteran defender/winger Jesús Gallardo’s name is also in the rumor mill. According to 365Scores, Club Deportivo Guadalajara is in advanced negotiations with Rayados for Gallardo.
The discussions are focused on a permanent transfer of the Mexican player’s full rights. Additionally, There will be no exchanges or other types of agreements involved; it will be purely a transfer. Both the agent and the player are willing to lower their financial demands to finalize the deal.
