CF Monterrey reportedly has their first reinforcement of the winter transfer window. FC Cincinnati’s Brandon Vázquez will be coming north of the border to join Rayados.

Willie González revealed on RG La Deportiva that the 25-year-old goal scorer will be one of Monterrey’s strikers for the 2024 Clausura tournament. The Monterrey board aims to facilitate Vázquez’s integration by prioritizing Joao Rojas’ departure from the team. Despite receiving two offers, Rojas has yet to accept any proposals.

Despite Vázquez not taking a foreign spot, González added that the board has informed Rogelio Funes Mori that he won’t be part of the team in the next campaign. If he chooses not to leave, this upcoming semester will mark his final tournament with Monterrey.

An update on Rayados’ pursuit of Rodrigo Villagra

Rumors suggest that the deal between Rodrigo Villagra and Rayados was practically done. However, negotiations have become complicated because Andrés Fassi, president of Club Atlético Talleres, reportedly requested a percentage of Villagra if he is sold to another team after arriving in Monterrey.

Monterrey has clearly stated its position and has already presented a proposal it is unwilling to lower. Therefore, whether Villagra will join Rayados depends on Fassi’s response.
