CF Monterrey’s pursuit of Club Atlético Talleres midfielder Rodrigo Villagra is turning into a telenovela saga. The latest reports suggest that Rayados has hit a roadblock in this pursuit.
Although rumors have spread in recent hours about progress in negotiations between the Monterrey club and Talleres, AS reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that “there has been no talk for days about Rodrigo Villagra, and there is no rapprochement with Rayados.”
Furthermore, those sources told AS, “Although there has been an approach for the midfielder, he comes from another team that is not from Mexico.” As a result, Talleres will address the situation calmly in the coming days to determine what is best for the player and club.
Rodrigo Villagra is a top priority for Rayados
Recently, Monterrey club chief confirmed that the 22-year-old midfielder is a target. Additionally, he noted the qualities that make the player an attractive target for them.
“There is a very open negotiation, and from this side of the negotiation, it is very viable that it will happen, hopefully soon,” José Antonio Noriega said. “[Villagra] is a player who has this combination of what I have been talking about in this conversation: quality and competitiveness.
“That is why he was chosen. He has a lot of pressure, with or without the ball, and we are hopeful that soon it will be closed and we can announce it officially.”
