After a disappointing 2023 Apertura Liguilla, CF Monterrey wants to revamp their squad in the coming weeks ahead of the 2024 Clausura tournament. Rayados intends to improve the striker position, with Brandon Vázquez being the prime target.
Multimedio’s Felipe Galindo reports, citing sources, that Monterrey already has a plan B in case Rogelio Funes Mori or Rodrigo Aguirre leaves. Furthermore, the situation with the FC Cincinnati star is in the advanced stages and solely depends on one of the departures.
The 25-year-old would also not occupy a foreign position because he began his youth career with Club Tijuana. Last season, the Mexican-American scored 17 goals for Cincinnati in 40 appearances in all competitions.
Vázquez’s current contract with the MLS team is until 2025. If he chooses not to renew it, there is a possibility that Rayados may sell him if they decide to get rid of one or both of the strikers whom they don’t consider part of their plans.
