CF Monterrey announced on Saturday the signing of Óliver Torres, who will arrive as a free agent following his departure from Sevilla.
Torres comes to bolster the midfield and challenge Luis Romo for his starting job. Moreover, fellow Spaniard Sergio Canales spoke about his compatriot, whom he faced numerous times in La Liga.
Canales noted that he believes the 29-year-old will be able to adapt after having conversations with the former Sevilla standout.
”Any good player is going to adapt,” Canales told reporters (h/t Telediario). “With the characteristics that he has, he clearly suits us very well. I was already talking to him about everything that is going to be found here. We’re sure going to enjoy his game a lot.”
Furthermore, Torres went on Instagram to express his excitement about joining Monterrey after the club officially announced the signing on social media.
”2:33 in the morning in Spain, and I can’t sleep because of the excitement of this news,” Torres wrote. “I promise to leave everything so that the path is beautiful and successful. Thanks for all the love. Up with Monterrey.”
During his tenure at Sevilla, Torres made 201 appearances, scoring 11 goals and registering 21 assists, while also winning the UEFA Europa League twice.
