Maxi Meza recently signed a one-year contract extension with CF Monterrey. However, the Argentine could be in high demand as the winter transfer window opens.

The squad could see some overhaul after Rayados crashed out in the quarterfinals against Atletico San Luis. Despite inking a new deal, Meza is a name that has a market in South America, primarily in Argentina.

Could Maxi Meza be returning to Argentina?

According to TyC Sports’ Juan Pablo Marrón, Boca Juniors’ new president, Juan Román Riquelme, called Meza to help reinforce the Argentine giants’ squad for next season.

How much could the 31-year-old cost? Transfermarkt puts the winger’s value at around $5.5 million, which could be a starting point for any club eyeing Meza. The next question will be whether Boca Juniors can pay such a high transfer fee.

Nonetheless, with one year on his contract, if Monterrey is open to selling Meza, then now would be the right time to recoup a fee and begin making significant changes to the squad heading into the 2024 Clausura season.
