Before CF Monterrey Femenil’s contest against FC Juárez Femenil, Jermaine Seoposenwe spoke to the media as the latest addition to the Rayadas squad Monday.

The South African international played at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup before arriving to play with her new team. The 29-year-old spoke to reporters and revealed why joining was the right move for her career.

“I don’t see it just as a challenge, but as an opportunity to be part of one of the best teams in the league,” Seoposenwe told reporters. “It is an opportunity to be a champion, and that is why they brought me Rayadas. I am here to give my best for the team and I hope that my skills can support the team.

“In Rayadas, I want to win all possible titles. It’s good to be part of a team with great players. It’s a challenge, and that’s why I came here, to grow as a player.”

Rayadas manager Eva Espejo praised Seoposenwe’s participation in the World Cup and likely wants to see her new player translate her performance to the current team.

“What we saw of her in the World Cup is that she is one of the players who had the most participation in goal danger plays,” Espejo said. “Her professionalism, discipline and effort are very important to Rayadas.”

Seoposenwe will have to hit the ground running to get Monterrey back on track. The squad has struggled in their last two contests. Espejo’s team lost to CD Guadalajara Femenil last Thursday 1-0 and then had a 2-2 draw against Juárez.

Rayadas’ newest addition did come off the bench in the 69th minute. It will be interesting to see if Espejo puts her into the starting 11 come Friday. The team faces off against Pumas UNAM Femenil on Friday at Estadio BBVA.
