Monterrey has locked up left-back Jesús Gallardo for the foreseeable future. The 28-year-old’s contract was set to expire in December, but the Mexican club ensured they didn’t lose their starter.
TUDN’s Diego Medina reported on Sunday that Rayados has reached a contract extension agreement with the Mexican international.
According to Medina, Gallardo signed a three-year contract as talks between both sides concluded on Saturday, resulting in the agreement and linking the player to Monterrey until 2026.
With Gallardo only having months left on his contract, he could’ve explored his options this summer and even signed a pre-contract for 2024. Nonetheless, Rayados secured their left-back to an extension rather quickly.
The defender joined Monterrey in 2018 and has several trophies with the Northern Mexican side, which includes lifting the 2019 Liga MX Apertura trophy and twice the Concacaf Champions League.
Gallardo has made 214 appearances in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and registering 23 assists. Those numbers will likely see an increase over the next few years as the Monterrey man is in the middle of his prime playing years.
