CF Monterrey has parted ways with Rogelio Funes Mori, paving the way for Germán Berterame to take on the No. 9 position. Yet, if Rayados doesn’t secure a left-winger before the January window closes, Berterame may find himself playing out of position again.

Nonetheless, the Argentine spoke with reporters on Friday and noted that regardless of whether he’s the striker or if it’s Brandon Vázquez, the goal-scoring for the squad shouldn’t fall on the shoulders of one player.

Berterame revealed that scoring goals for this 2024 Clausura tournament should be done as a group rather than relying on one player.

“It’s a group, a team; I cannot take that responsibility,” Berterame told reporters (h/t ABC Deportes). “It’s for the entire group. As the goals come, they will come on their own and will not be for one person alone but for different players.

“The responsibility is going to be from the entire team to try to take Monterrey to where it wants, and the goals will come when we all work together in the match.”

Berterame started the Clausura 2024 tournament with a goal that sealed the 2-0 victory against Puebla last weekend at the BBVA Stadium.
