CF Monterrey forward Ana Lucía Martínez will partake in her first Clasico Regio Femenil on Friday. The 34-year-old recently spoke with Once Diario about her expectations for the first game against Tigres UANL.

The Guatemalan player noted that he’s excited to play in the rivalry. However, she stressed that it will take a team effort for Rayadas to secure all three points.

“For me, it’s going to be a beautiful experience,” Martínez told the outlet. “Additionally, people in Mexico really show a lot of support. That match is very special and emotional.”

“I’m really looking forward to playing, but the most important thing is that we come together as a team and achieve the results. This club has very clear and ambitious goals, and we need to rise to meet them.”

Ana Lucía Martínez: Rayadas still has room to improve

Whether it’s a win, draw, or loss against Tigres, Martínez believes that the squad hasn’t reached its true potential. The veteran highlights the work needed if the team wants to be crowned champions of the 2024 Apertura tournament.

“We still have a lot of room for improvement,” Martínez added. “We can give more, compete at the top of the table, and even reach the final, I can say that, but it requires a lot of work, all of us being focused, and having a bit of humility to know that we can be better every day.”
