Germán Berterame Gives Injury Update; Plus, Rebecca Bernal to Europe?

CF Monterrey has had to patchwork their striker situation since Germán Berterame suffered an injury in August. Aside from the 24-year-old, Rodrigo Aguirre and Rogelio Funes Mori have dealt with injuries this 2023 Apertura season.

Many Rayados fans are counting down the days until Berterame returns this campaign. The Argentine recently provided an update on his situation after injuring his left foot during Leagues Cup 2023.

“I feel very good,” Berterame said (h/t Telediario). “We are at a good pace now. We have to wait for this final part until I see the surgeon, d from there, I will start jogging.”

On August 9, the Argentine underwent surgery for the fracture suffered in his left foot in Leagues Cup. The club’s official statement mentioned that there would be an update on his evolution after six weeks.

Once this deadline passes, Berterame will see the surgeon in the coming days to study his evolution and determine what will follow in the rehabilitation process.

“It’s a matter of getting the [medical] discharge and from there going from less to more, starting to jog, going step by step, a baby is not going to walk out of nowhere,” Berterame added. “First you crawl, and then you walk, then jogging, and then playing soccer.”

Rebecca Bernal Talks About Possibly Playing in Europe

It’s the dream of any footballer to play at the highest level, which, for most, is playing in Europe. Rayadas center-back Rebecca Bernal is 26 years old and entering the prime years of her career. As a result, would now be the time to take her career abroad?

Bernal reiterated that her focus is on Monterrey and that she still has a couple of years left on her contract. However, the defender mentioned that there are constant talks with the board about playing in Europe.

“I still have a contract with the team, and the truth is that on a personal level, I have certain objectives of leaving the country, but for now, I am very well here, grateful to the club, and considering other options,” Bernal told reporters (h/t Telediario).

“I do not rule out the possibility of going abroad with good communication with the club; it has always supported me in that sense, and I keep that communication close with the board. I am focused on that process.”
