CF Monterrey announced on Monday that they have reached a contract extension agreement with veteran defender Héctor Moreno. The 35-year-old has extended his contract with Rayados, and the team will keep him until June 2025.
During his two years on the team, he established himself as the starting center-back and captain of the squad.
Moreno has appeared in 78 matches for the Mexican club, where he’s scored one goal and one assist. Furthermore, the former Espanyol defender won the 2021 Concacaf Champions League with Rayados.
“I am very happy and excited to maintain the commitment to Rayados for another year and a half,” Moreno said in a video the club published on social media (h/t ABC Deportes). “It is a wonderful institution. I am excited about what may come in the future with the team.
“I will continue the commitment I have with my teammates on a daily basis. It is a fortune to work with them and see them grow, improve, and fight for the championships we want to achieve. We want the fans to feel proud of belonging to Monterrey.”
This extension with Moreno is another one that the club has done in recent weeks, with Maxi Meza and Sebastián Vegas being the other agreements.
