Rayados Reportedly Agree to Contract Extension with Maxi Meza

Maxi Meza will stay with CF Monterrey for at least one more year. The 30-year-old, who had two assists in Rayados’ 3-1 win over Club Tijuana on Wednesday, has signed a new contract.

According to transfer window specialist César Luis Merlo, Monterrey and Meza’s camp agreed to a one-year extension after several weeks of negotiations. The Argentine’s contract was scheduled to expire on Dec. 31, allowing him to become a free agent.

However, Rayados didn’t want Meza to leave. Merlo adds that only the signatures and the official announcement remain, but the most important thing has been done.

Rumors of the winger heading abroad have surfaced in recent days. Sevilla was a club linked to the Rayados star. Nonetheless, everything remained gossip since the footballer always intended to renew with the Liga MX side.

Meza arrived in 2019 after completing his transfer from Independiente of Argentina. With Rayados, he has won a Liga MX, a Copa MX, and two Concacaf Champions League titles. Furthermore, Meza has scored 32 goals and registered 25 assists in 2021 matches with the Mexican side.
