Rodrigo Aguirre, the talented Uruguayan striker, finds himself in anticipation. The 28-year-old is awaiting the crucial green light from Monterrey to leave and embark on a new chapter with Toluca.
Canal 6 Deportes Felipe Galindo reported on Monday, citing a source, that Toluca is only waiting for the ‘OK’ from Rayados to leave for greener pastures within Liga MX.
Aguirre’s aspirations of becoming a starter drive his desire for a transfer, fueled by the realization that his path to regular playing time at Monterrey faces considerable obstacles in the form of Germán Berterame and Rogelio Funes Mori.
The former Necaxa man has set his sights on Toluca, a club reportedly willing to invest more than $6 million for his services. This proposed deal represents a significant financial gain for the striker and a more prominent role within the team.
Aguirre and his representatives firmly believe Monterrey will accept Toluca’s enticing offer. With the potential departure of Aguirre, Monterrey would not only secure a significant transfer fee but also alleviate any concerns about a potential logjam in the attacking department.
Monterrey is still attempting to bring a reinforcement that will occupy one of the foreign spots. If the Rayados board does secure a new player, then it’s likely they will give the green light for Aguirre to exit.
