Tecatito Corona Completes Transfer to Rayados; César Montes Stays in La Liga

The transfer saga involving Sevilla FC’s Jesús “Tecatito” Corona has ended with a happy ending for CF Monterrey supporters. Rayados announced on Friday that Tecatito Corona has returned for a second stint with the Mexican club.

As for the financial terms, El Sevillista’s Máximo de la Cruz Ramírez reported before the official announcement that the Spanish club will receive €3.25 million from Monterrey. Meanwhile, Tecatito Corona is signing a three-year contract with Rayados.

Tecatito Corona’s transfer marks the second reinforcement to the squad after the Liga MX side landed Sergio Canales from Real Betis. The transfer window closes on Sept. 13, so there’s time for Monterrey to continue addressing the team’s needs.

César Montes will remain in La Liga

While one Monterrey youth product returns, another has found a new club in Europe as César Montes’ soap opera with RCD Espanyol de Barcelona also has a happy ending.

The 26-year-old defender will not play in Spain’s second division after transferring to UD Almería. Additionally, the Spanish club announced the transfer of the center-back on Friday, as Montes remains in La Liga.

As for the financial and contract details, Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo reported on Friday that Almería paid €11.5 million plus bonuses for Montes. The former Monterrey youth player will sign a contract until 2029.

Montes will be challenged to help the Spanish club dig itself out of an early hole. Almería is currently in the relegation zone with one point in four matches. Nonetheless, they’re two points away from safety, so Montes will need to help improve their defense.

With this sum of cash, Espanyol will need to begin paying Monterrey, as the club reportedly missed its first payment in July. So Rayados should see a sum of money in the club soon enough.
