CF Monterrey could be on the verge of landing that defensive midfielder ahead of the 2024 Clausura tournament. So, who’s the player that could be making the jump to Rayados? It’s Rodrigo Villagra.
According to Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo, Monterrey is already negotiating for Villagra to be their reinforcement. They intend to purchase him definitively and integrate him into the team for the upcoming campaign in January.
Merlo doesn’t reveal the financial details of a possible deal. However, the Liga MX side reportedly wants to shell out an offer between $5 million and $6 million to secure the 22-year-old.
Furthermore, Rayados does face competition for talented Talleres de Córdoba player, as River Plate is keen on Villagra, and there’s also interest from Europe. Nonetheless, Monterrey appears to be in the driver’s seat to land the player, but like with any transfer, it’s not done until the player is holding up the jersey.
These next few hours should be interesting to follow to see if Rayados can secure their first reinforcement.
