CF Monterrey’s women’s side is starting to take shape as two more reinforcements are on their way. Both players come from abroad as Rayadas looks to mold itself into a squad that can win the 2024 Clausura tournament.
The first of the two new reported recruits comes from Atlético de Madrid. According to TUDN’s Diego Armando Medina, 2019 FIFA Women’s Cup winner Merel van Dongen will be leaving Atlético de Madrid to sign with the Mexican side.
After Mariana Cadena’s departure to Club América this winter transfer window, Dongen will arrive to fill the gap. Furthermore, Medina states that the announcement will be made official in the next few hours.
Monterrey isn’t stopping at just adding a veteran leader to their defense, as Rayadas has also beefed up their attack. Medina also reports that the club will add Ana Lucía Martínez to help score goals.
The Guatemalan will also come from Europe as she reportedly leaves Serie A side Sampdoria. The TUDN reporter adds that the 33-year-old’s arrival will be official in the next few hours.
Both signings come after Rayadas recently bolstered their backline with the addition of Tanna Sánchez.
