CF Monterrey eagerly anticipates the swift conclusion to the potential transfer of Real Betis midfielder Sergio Canales.
Canal 6 Deportes’ Felipe Galindo revealed vital details that led to Rayados securing the 32-year-old Spain international.
According to Galindo, former Mexican national team player and Real Betis teammate Andrés Guardado played a pivotal role in convincing the talented footballer to consider a move to Liga MX.
Guardado knows the league after playing with Atlas FC from 2005 to 2007, leading to a move abroad to Europe. As a result, the veteran midfielder was likely a good source of reference to the league and the country.
Galindo also adds that Monterrey hopes to incorporate the player this weekend. Rayados want to have their No. 10 with them when they travel to the United States to participate in Leagues Cup. During the competition, they’ll face Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders FC.
If Canales does arrive in time to participate in this tournament, expect manager Fernando Ortiz to begin slowly giving minutes during these two contests until he’s match fit for 90 minutes.
