CF Monterrey has found their No. 10 for the foreseeable future in Real Betis star Sergio Canales. After weeks of speculation, the 32-year-old is on the verge of finishing his transfer to the LIGA MX side.
BeSoccer Betis’ Pepe Elías first reported that the transfer is in its final stages. However, the move to Mexico should occur as Canales is expected to return from England to Seville to take his belongings and travel to Monterrey.
The midfielder will sign a three-year contract with Rayados and earn €5 million per net. As for the transfer fee, Real Betis will receive €10 million and €5 million in bonuses.
Canales’ teammates know that his transfer negotiations are well advanced. As a result, Tuesday night may be the last night they spend with them as a Real Betis player.
Monterrey needed to secure the attacking midfielder to orchestrate their offense; now they have that in the Spain international. Canales joined Real Betis in 2018, appearing in 207 matches in all competitions and scoring 39 goals and 30 assists.
