Maxi Meza’s Future at Rayados Hangs in the Balance Amid Contract Dispute – Report

Monterrey has already said goodbye, temporarily, to Duvan Vergara, who joined Santos Laguna on a one-year loan with an option to buy. However, the next foreign player to join him in leaving Rayados could be Maxi Meza.

Canal 6 Deportes’ Felipe Galindo reported on Saturday, citing a source, that the Argentine has not yet been notified of his future; therefore, he becomes the most viable option to leave the Mexican club.

Recently, Meza met with his representative to analyze the future, considering he still needs to reach an agreement with Monterrey over a contract extension. The 30-year-old’s current contract expires on December 30.

As a result, these next few days will be vital as to whether Rayados attempts to move on from the player and recoup whatever fee they can instead of him walking as a free agent in six months.

Several teams from Argentina have an interest and some MLS teams are also eyeing the player. Still, Meza wants to remain in Monterrey. However, if both parties cannot come to an agreement, then it would be best for the club to part ways with Meza.

Meza joined Monterrey in 2019 and has since appeared in 189 contests in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and registering 22 assists.
