Brandon Vazquez Opens Up About Cincinnati Return and Ex-Teammates’ Habits

On Thursday, Brandon Vazquez will return to TQL Stadium as CF Monterrey faces his former club, FC Cincinnati, in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16.

Vazquez spoke on Wednesday at a press conference and didn’t hide his emotions about returning to the city. He also highlighted that some of the best moments of his career happened while playing for Cincinnati. Furthermore, the 25-year-old is excited to receive the reception from the home supporters.

“It’s really nice for me to return home,” Vazquez told the media (h/t ABC Deportes). I played here for many years, have many beautiful memories, lifted trophies, and achieved many personal goals. So, it’s great to come back here.

“I’m excited about the people who will come to the game, the reception I’ll receive as well. They’ve always shown me a lot of love, and I think it will be beautiful. But my focus is on my work and winning the game.”

Brandon Vazquez reveals FC Cincinnati’s weaknesses and tendencies

The Mexican-American player revealed that he has discussed with Monterrey manager Fernando Ortiz and his teammates any weaknesses or tendencies of his former teammates.

“The coach and I have already spoken several times; we know they’re a good team,” Vazquez added. “Personally, I know the players very well, how this team plays, and the coach’s idea in Cincinnati. Anything that can help the team and the coach so that we have an advantage and can win, I’ll do it. I want to win, and I go out with that mindset.”
