Is Tecatito Corona Rayados Bound? Plus Monterrey Eyes FC Cincinnati Goal Scorer

CF Monterrey’s attack has struggled recently, scoring one goal in their last 360 minutes. Furthermore, with injuries ravishing the striker position, Rayados must reinforce their offensive game before the transfer window closes on the 13th.

Over the last few weeks, the Mexican club has been linked to Sevilla’s Jesús “Tecatito” Corona. Now, with only hours left in Spain’s transfer window, a deal appears near.

According to El Sevillista’s Máximo de la Cruz Ramírez, Tecatito Corona should be considered a Rayado, marking his return to the Liga MX club. Ramírez adds that the 30-year-old has signed documents, and the clubs will close the last paperwork on Friday.

Furthermore, Playmarker’s Enrique Garcia confirms that there’s an agreement between Monterrey and Sevilla. He doesn’t state anything about the player and Rayados having a deal, but Garcia does offer his opinion. Garcia notes that the Spanish need to sell Tecatito Corona to use the money from Monterrey to close out another transfer. As a result, he feels that the player will return.

The saga will end happily with the winger returning to his boyhood club. Additionally, Monterrey will get the player in the latter stages of his prime years. As a result, a high level should be expected from Tecatito Corona.

While at Sevilla this 2023-24 season, the soon-to-be Monterrey player has seen little playing time, so it will be interesting to see what form he arrives in once the veteran hits the pitch.

Another transfer window signing for Rayados?

Monterrey’s lack of recent scoring and injuries to the striker position should inform everyone that a No. 9 is needed. Germán Berterame is out with a foot injury, and there’s no word yet on whether he’ll return.

Rodrigo Aguirre suffered a calf injury in the first game of Leagues Cup 2023 and has yet to return. Furthermore, Rogelio Funes Mori is dealing with an ankle injury that caused him to miss the 1-0 loss to Toluca FC on Wednesday.

Who could be on Rayados’ radar? FOX Sports Mexico reports (h/t ABC Noticias) that FC Cincinnati striker Brandon Vázquez. The 24-year-old has scored 13 goals in all competitions for the MLS club.

The Mexican-American goal scorer has been linked to a Liga MX club in the past, but a move to CD Guadalajara never happened. Could Monterrey push for a transfer? It will be a challenge since Cincinnati is the top club in the Eastern Conference.

As a result, with the MLS transfer window closed, it’s hard to envision the Ohio-based club allowing Vázquez to leave. Nonetheless, every club has its price, but it won’t be easy if the Cincinnati star is their prime target.
